Student art show submission.



This photo was taken on a beautiful October dat while fly fishing on the Madison river south of Ennis Montana. This bull had no care in the world that I was about 80 yards from him. He actually put on a little show. Racking and thrashing the brush. I have never been this close to a moose besides being in YNP. And this is by the far the biggest bull moose I have ever seen. His beautiful black coat and near white legs made for some beautiful shots. I used this photo for my student art show submission.

I have been looking for a lens that will give me the most out of my camera since it is a cropped frame DSLR and I found that the Sigma 18-35 mm f/1.8 has a lot of the features and price tag that I have been looking for. It is a wide angle normal length zoom lens. It is specifically designed for the use of cameras with APS-C sized sensors like my 80D. I really like the low f1.8 possibility so I can get some cool photos with some good blur in my background. The only thing is I wish it had a little more zoom capability.

Final results from the semester. 25 of my best.

ISO 400 200mm f/16 1/40 sec I wanted to capture a goose this semester and capture a shot with reflection. I used these settings because it was good light and I wanted to get the most out of the photo. (lower ISO) ISO 500 55mm f/18 1/50 sec This photo was captured during the first storm of the year and I really enjoyed the color contrast between the red barn and white dusting of snow. ISO 125 10mm f/3.5 1/1000 sec  I used these settings because it was very bright out and I wanted to get a blurred background. And it was slightly windy hence the higher shutter speed. ISO 100 24mm f/4.5 1/640 sec  I just thought this tree was super cool. This tree had gone through a fire some years ago and I thought the view behind it along with the snow partially covering it was cool. Raw photo Unedited vs Edited

Unedited  Edited  I love how when a photo is shot in raw you can do so much with it after it has been taken. The colors in the first photo are dull and don't pop. And when you have the capability of editing you can make it so much better. The clarity and color are two things I focused on in this edit.
