Best lens for cropped sensor Canon 80D



I have been looking for a lens that will give me the most out of my camera since it is a cropped frame DSLR and I found that the Sigma 18-35 mm f/1.8 has a lot of the features and price tag that I have been looking for. It is a wide angle normal length zoom lens. It is specifically designed for the use of cameras with APS-C sized sensors like my 80D. I really like the low f1.8 possibility so I can get some cool photos with some good blur in my background. The only thing is I wish it had a little more zoom capability.

I have been curious about the differences in DSLR vs Mirrorless cameras. I wanted to compare and contrast the pros and cons of the two. Pros of a DSLR:  Better in low light. Autofocus on fast moving objects. More lens options. Some have better battery life.   Cons of a DSLR: Larger camera bodies. (needs to fit a mirror and the prism Means heavier packed weight. Don't shoot as good of video. Pros of a Mirrorless: With a mirrorless camera, you get a preview of the image on-screen. Some mirrorless cameras offer an electronic viewfinder (EVF) that simulates the optical viewfinder. Weight is substantially less.  When shooting outside in good light, your preview on the screen or EVF of a mirrorless camera will look close to the final image. Student art show submission.

This photo was taken on a beautiful October dat while fly fishing on the Madison river south of Ennis Montana. This bull had no care in the world that I was about 80 yards from him. He actually put on a little show. Racking and thrashing the brush. I have never been this close to a moose besides being in YNP. And this is by the far the biggest bull moose I have ever seen. His beautiful black coat and near white legs made for some beautiful shots. I used this photo for my student art show submission.
